Both officers fired their pistols, striking the driver. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. Investigators have not said what led up to the shooting.

Milwaukie police said neither officer was injured. Both are on paid administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation.

The shooting is the latest in a spate of regional police shootings this month. Those include a fatal shooting in Vancouver on Friday, a nonfatal shooting by Portland police on Thursday and a shooting outside an elementary school in Milton-Freewater on Sept. 24, in which one person was injured.
