Police say they were called at about 2 p.m. Saturday to the report of an unconscious driver in a Longview restaurant drive-thru line.

Medical units responded and used Naloxone to wake the man. But police say he became aggressive and drove away, showing signs of impairment.

Officers were able to stop the driver, later identified as Louis Johnson, Jr., about a half-mile away. Investigators say Johnson pulled out a gun and shot at officers, who returned fire and struck him. Johnson died at the scene. No officers were injured.

Police say Johnson’s pistol was an unlawfully manufactured “ghost gun.” A major crimes team is investigating.
