The Portland Thorns have a new owner. Merritt Paulson sold the team to RAJ Sports, a family company that owns other franchises, including a stake in the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. We learn more about what new ownership will mean for the Thorns and preview the upcoming draft.

The Thorns, Portland’s women’s soccer team, start their season off with a game against Orlando Pride on Sunday. The team is the defending champion of the National Women’s Soccer League, and their forward, Sophia Smith, was named MVP for the league last season. But, last year was rocky for women’s soccer, and for the Thorns in particular.
