The Museum of Natural and Cultural History at the University of Oregon has launched an exhibit titled "Roots and Resilience — Chinese American Heritage in Oregon," which highlights the 150-year history of Chinese Oregonians.

An exhibit at the Columbia Gorge Museum in Stevenson, Washington, features a collection of quilts made by an enslaved woman and her family, carefully preserved for more than 150 years.

The museum needed upgrades to its heating and cooling systems.

At the High Desert Museum in Bend, the new “Sensing Sasquatch” exhibit isn’t concerned with whether or not Sasquatch exists. In many Indigenous traditions, Sasquatch is a bona fide living, breathing sentient being, and that is where this exhibit, which features the work of five Native American artists, begins.

The Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland is primarily as a place for rail enthusiasts to fix steam engines. But now center organizers have plans to become more like a museum to attract more visitors.

"Craft, Community and Care" features Shimabukuro’s legacy as a journalist, a woodworker and an advocate for diverse social causes at the Japanese American Museum of Oregon through April 14.

“There’s been a real shift in the entire field to incorporate Indigenous voices and perspectives — and it’s long overdue,” said Dana Whitelaw, executive director of High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon.

Timber was brought to Bend’s High Desert Museum after being found in Portland separated from his mother.

Bend’s High Desert Museum has a new, young river otter in its exhibit, who makes his public debut Wednesday. But experts would rather have been able to release him back to his family.

Before the pandemic, the museum saw some 250,000 visitors a year and offered exhibits heavy on hands-on play designed to spur childrens’ imaginations.
