- Sagebrush grows all over the high desert plains of Eastern Oregon. But it turns out it's not that easy to grow the plant — especially on land that's been devastated by fires. So an Oregon nonprofit has teamed up with the Department of Corrections to train prisoners to grow sagebrush from seed. We speak with Jessie Brothers, the coordinator of the program, and to Gerald Strebendt, a former prisoner.
