There's no word on who might play Cain's heroine, Kick, a former child abductee transformed into a super-skilled crime-fighter.

Chris Noth is attached, according to the Reporter, as the FBI agent who rescued Kick.

"I'm thrilled, Cain said. "I've had a crush on Chris Noth since college.  And I can't wait for these characters to have a life outside the confines of my skull."

Cain's work has been tapped for adaptation before. FX picked up her Gretchen Lowell-Archie Sheridan mysteries. It's still in development.

Correction, 11:50 a.m.: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the status of the FX production of Cain's Gretchen Lowell-Archie Sheridan stories.
