The Portland Timbers return to playoff action Sunday against FC Dallas.

The Timbers head into the second match against Dallas with a two-goal lead.

The Timbers beat Dallas 3-1 at Providence Park last Sunday.

That means Dallas would have to win the second and concluding match in the series by at least two goals, to advance. Otherwise, Portland would appear in the MLS Cup for the first time since joining the league, four years ago.

Before counting out Dallas consider three things:

1.) No team in Major League Soccer won more home games than FC Dallas.

2.) Dallas had the second-biggest goal differential over the course of the season — scoring 13 more goals than its opponents.

3.) The one time Portland played in Dallas this season? The Timbers lost 4-1.

In Portland's defense, that loss in Dallas was back in July. The Timbers have won four road games in a row, going back to September.

The Timbers' game in Dallas kicks off at 2 p.m. Pacific.
