Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler's daughter, Abigail, is recovering after a successful kidney transplant.

Abigail was born two years ago without kidneys, a syndrome known as Potter's Sequence. At the time she was the only baby known to have survived.

Abigail has been living on dialysis for the last two years. But on Monday, her father, Dan, donated a kidney.

"We are excited to announce that on February 8th, Dan gave Abigail an amazing gift — one of his kidneys," the Republican congresswoman wrote on Facebook Wednesday morning.

"After smooth, no drama procedures both Abigail and Dan are now in separate recovery rooms," Herrera Beutler wrote. "Of course we are praying for a speedy course of recovery as we are anxious to bring everyone back home."

The transplant took place at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford in California.
