"The suspect sustained a non-life threatening injury and was treated by medical personnel and treated at a local hospital," Wallis told reporters Friday. "The officer did sustain a minor injury, but not as a result of the gunshot."

The officer was not taken to the hospital.

Flights were not impacted, said Port of Portland spokeswoman Kama Simonds.

The lower level area of the airport where private vehicles pick up passengers outside of baggage claim was closed much of Friday as officers investigated the scene. It reopened to vehicle traffic early afternoon.
