Battle Ground Pilot's Missing Plane Found Crashed On Mount Hood

George Regis, 63, of Battle Ground, Washington, was en route to Arizona when his plane was reported missing. Authorities later discovered the plane crashed on the side of Mount Hood.

The airplane of a Battle Ground, Washington, man who had previously been reported missing, was found on Mount Hood Tuesday.

The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office said the plane had crashed and the sole occupant was deceased.

The plane belonged to George Regis, who was reported missing on Jan. 28 and was last seen departing Grove Field Airport in Camas, Washington, on Friday.

Regis, 63, was en route to Arizona. He was reported missing by his wife on Monday.

Members of the Hood River Crag Rats, Oregon Air National Guard and the Air Force are leading a recovery operation Wednesday morning.

Officials have not yet determined what caused Regis' plane to crash.
