A European mobility company is bringing its bus service to the Pacific Northwest.
Germany’s FlixBus has announced it’s partnering with the Seattle-based charter company MTR Western to begin offering rides in Oregon, Washington and Idaho later this month.
Service is set to begin Nov. 21.
“This has been one of the most meticulously laid out expansions in FlixBus history,” said Pierre Gourdain with FlixBus USA in a news release.
The Oregon stops will be in Portland, Salem, Corvallis, Albany and Eugene. In Washington, buses will run in Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma, Ellensburg and Spokane — with a stop over the border to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
On-campus stops will be available at the University of Oregon, Oregon State University and Central Washington University.
The company said in a statement prices for round-trip tickets between Seattle and Portland will start at $9.99.
FlixBus said it will offer seven daily trips per direction between Portland and Seattle and four trips per direction between Portland and Eugene.
“Service between Seattle and Spokane also offers a competitive travel time between existing carriers,” the company said.
FlixBus acknowledged other competing bus services in the area, such as Bolt Bus, saying it would “beat the travel time of legacy competitors in the region.”
The self-proclaimed tech-meets-travel company offers a mobile app in which people can buy tickets and track their bus route.
FlixBus launched in 2013 in Germany and has since expanded to 28 countries in Europe. It began service in the U.S. last year and serves nearly 100 destinations across the country.
