Community Connection of Northeast Oregon operates transit in Union, Baker and Wallowa counties and operates La Grande Transit Hub, where Greyhound stops. The nonprofit issued a statement expressing disappointment but said they will continue to offer intercity bus routes.

“There will no longer be a Greyhound stop in La Grande. Their daily routes through our transit hub will be missed! But, we are open and have many different ways folks can ride. Give us a call or check out our website neotransit.org to find out how you can ride!” CCNO wrote in a Facebook post on Dec. 27.

The cancellation significantly reduces or eliminates transit from northeast Oregon to the larger cities of Portland and Boise, Idaho.

Oregon Department of Transportation spokesperson Anna Howe said Friday that the cancellation will be “disruptive” for travelers. Howe said the agency is working with local transportation partners “to identify potential solutions for more integrated bus travel options between northeast Oregon communities.”

OPB received this statement from a spokesperson from Flix North America, the parent company for Greyhound, on Friday.

“FlixBus will discontinue service between Portland and Boise starting Jan. 15. However, we will continue operating a shorter route from Portland to Pasco. We understand how important affordable intercity bus service is to our customers, and we remain committed to exploring opportunities to restore this route in the future with the support of regional stakeholders.”
