Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Clackamas Town Center mall near Happy Valley.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting Friday appeared to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officials would not comment on any potential motive but said no fatalities have been reported.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Ross Clemson told reporters deputies were called to the scene just before 3 p.m.
“As deputies arrived they were able to detain a person and we learned that a person was transported to a local area hospital for treatment,” Clemson said Friday evening. “It’s important to say there’s no ongoing danger to the public. We believe this is an isolated incident and again this happened outside of the mall in the parking lot.”
Clemson would not confirm the number of shots fired or any details about the victim, citing the ongoing investigation.
The Clackamas mall was crowded with holiday shoppers – and remains open.
In Dec. 2012, two people were shot and killed at the mall. The gunman later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Friday, Clemson said police arrived on the scene quickly. He said many in law enforcement have not forgotten about what happened at the mall 12 years ago.

Agencies responding to the shooting included Gladstone and Happy Valley police as well as the Clackamas County Sheriff.
Officials at TriMet said they have “resumed regular bus and MAX service” to the mall, but that riders may experience delays.
