Police officers shot and killed a man at a motel in Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon.
Police were initially called just after noon to the report of a domestic disturbance at the Motel 6 on Highway 101.
Arriving officers identified the man allegedly involved in the disturbance and found he had outstanding arrest warrants, according to the Lincoln City Police Department.
The officers said when they made contact with the man, he was carrying two guns in his waistband. They said the man reached for his guns after refusing orders and that’s when officers shot him.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the man’s name or further details about the initial disturbance.
The Lincoln County Major Crime Team is investigating the shooting.
It is the latest in a string of regional police shootings over the last month. Those include a shooting by Milwaukie police on Sept. 30, which left a man in critical condition; a fatal shooting in Vancouver on Sept. 27; a nonfatal shooting by Portland police on Sept. 26; and a shooting outside an elementary school in Milton-Freewater on Sept. 24, in which one person was injured.
