Linn County deputies shoot and kill domestic violence suspect

Deputies from the Linn County Sheriff’s Department shot and killed a domestic violence suspect Thursday evening, according to a press release from Oregon State Police.

The incident happened at a residence in a rural area of Linn County about seven miles northeast of Sweet Home.

Police say they responded around 8 p.m. to a reported domestic dispute involving a firearm.

When they arrived, they say 49-year-old Gino Anthony Marcoccia was armed with a rifle.

Police say Marcoccia did not comply with commands to drop his weapon and advanced towards officers, one of whom fatally shot him.

The press release says no deputies were harmed during the encounter. The Oregon State Police is investigating the shooting.
