The National Weather Service says several inches of snow are possible at elevations as low as 2,000 feet. Another foot of snow could fall above 3,000 feet by the evening.

But forecasters say precipitation should slow down later in the evening, and most of Oregon and Southwest Washington will dry out by Wednesday. Drier and warmer weather should last through the weekend into early next week.

The forecast heading into the weekend shows much of the region returning to sunny skies and high temperatures in the 60s. Portland high temps could reach the 70s Friday through Monday.
