TriMet Max train, streetcar collide in Portland, injuring two

A TriMet MAX Light Rail train and streetcar collided near Northeast 7th Avenue and Northeast Holladay Street in Portland Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m., closing the intersection for a few hours, according to transportation officials.

The crash threw three rail cars off the tracks, and pinned the driver, who had to be extricated by emergency crews. Two people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The crash also temporarily disrupted the MAX Blue, Green and Red rail lines. TriMet provided shuttle buses to stations between Old Town Chinatown and Gateway-99th Avenue.
