A deputy shot and killed a man in Happy Valley on Saturday night, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the report of a shooting just before midnight in unincorporated Clackamas County. The gunshot victim at the scene pointed out the fleeing suspect’s vehicle and deputies pursued it.
The chase ended in Happy Valley, where the suspect shot at one of the deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy then shot the suspect, who later died at a nearby hospital.
It was the second time in less than a week that a Clackamas County deputy fatally shot a shooting suspect.
The deputy involved in Saturday’s shooting was put on leave while a major crimes team investigates.
The victim in the initial shooting on Saturday is expected to survive.
