Schools are closed across the Portland metro area Thursday, Feb. 23 due to a snowstorm that hit Wednesday followed by ongoing cold, inclement weather.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

The list of closed schools includes nearly every district in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties as well as Southwest Washington. They include some of the region’s largest districts — Portland Public Schools, Beaverton, North Clackamas and Reynolds in Oregon, as well as Evergreen and Vancouver in Washington.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

Winter weather at first prompted after school closures Wednesday evening before officials at district after district across the region made the call to cancel school for Thursday.

Snowy conditions in Portland caused widespread traffic issues Wednesday as commuters headed home for the evening.

Schools are also closed or on a 2-hour delay in Yamhill County, Columbia County and along the Columbia River Gorge.

Private schools and child care programs across the region are also closed Thursday. Portland Community College is among a number of higher education campuses to close Thursday due to the wintry weather.
