Former Beaverton mayor pleads guilty to possessing child porn
According to a press release from the Oregon Department of Justice, former Beaverton Mayor Dennis “Denny” Doyle pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to illegally possessing child pornography.
Doyle, 73, was charged March 3 with one count of possession of child pornography. Court records indicate between November 2014 and December 2015, Doyle knowingly and unlawfully possessed digital media containing child pornography. Several images were of children under the age of 12. Doyle will be sentenced Jan. 24 by U.S. District Court Judge Michael W. Mosman. The case was investigated by FBI Portland’s Child Exploitation Task Force and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon. (OPB Staff)
TriMet seeks comments on extensive proposed bus changes
TriMet is looking for public comments as it plans to expand services and make changes to stops in the Beaverton and Tigard areas. TriMet plans to expand its service by 30%, bringing service closer to 50,000 more residents and making weekend service available to 100,000 more people. It would also create new routes serving all three counties, especially in East Multnomah County and parts of Washington County. But existing service could be reduced to parts of Westside communities like Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Tualatin and West Linn. (Ray Pitz, Business Tribune)
Hermiston City Hall building hosts grand opening
Hermiston has officially opened its new city hall, and visitors had good things to say at the grand opening event Monday. Officials touted the building’s size, saying it had plenty of space for the town to grow and expand services. (Erick Peterson, East Oregonian)
Man hopes to bring glory to Woodburn with his impressive mullet
Musio Chavez, a 33-year-old Woodburn man, is now among 25 people in the running to win “The 2022 Mane Event” in the USA Mullet Championships. Voting is underway online through Wednesday.
