Multiple crime scenes; witness reports seeing someone shot, another person holding a gun

A Multnomah County sheriff’s deputy shot someone near the Lloyd Center Wednesday afternoon.

The area is taped off and has multiple crime scenes, according to a tweet by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, which recommends people avoid the area.

A witness saw someone bleeding, who said they had been shot. That witness said another person ran off carrying a gun.

There are also three crashed cars in the area — two at the intersection of NE Grand and Weidler and a third at NE Grand and Halsey.

An officer on scene told a bystander that the condition of the person who was shot is currently unknown. The Portland Police Bureau is the agency overseeing the investigation.

PPB said it could not provide immediate updates but would give more information after “preliminary investigative steps and briefings have occurred.”
