The city of Vancouver will ask voters next year to continue a property tax levy that raises millions of dollars every year for affordable housing.

Vancouver City Council agreed Monday to ask voters to renew the city’s affordable housing fund, which is set to expire in 2023.

If approved, property owners would pay 30 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. That would raise $100 million over the next decade for rental aid, shelter support and thousands of new housing units.

Voters will see the question on their ballots during the February special election.
