Kick start the week with three new songs hand-picked for your playlist.

Heavy Gus — “Paracosm”

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

The trio called Heavy Gus consists of songwriting couple Dorota Szuta and Stelth Ulvang (of The Lumineers) and drummer Ryan Dobrowski (Blind Pilot). The group’s debut LP “Notions” dropped in August and features this plush single “Paracosm.” The song melds perfectly with the accompanying music video which follows Szuta’s recent pregnancy in a fascinating time-lapse that concludes with the musician holding her beautiful new baby.

Alex G — “Cross The Sea”

“Cross the Sea” is the third single from Philadelphia singer-songwriter Alexander Giannascoli’s upcoming album “God Save the Animals” (due out Sept. 23). It features hushed lead singing from Giannascoli and sparse, but incredibly effective, angelic backing harmonies that never overstay their welcome. The vocals intermingle perfectly with the song’s lo-fi production and creative rhythmic fluctuations.

Khruangbin and Vieux Farka Touré — “Savanne”

Texas trio Khruangbin teamed up with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré to pay tribute to Touré's late father, the legendary musician Ali Farka Touré, on a joint album that’s due out in late September. “Savanne” is the first offering from that record. The song features dazzling guitar work and hints of conga drums along with a vocal sample of Ali Farka Touré, repeated in French throughout, that gives the track an ethereal quality.
