McMinnville police shoot and kill 69-year-old man after request for suicide intervention

McMinnville police shot and killed a 69-year-old man on Tuesday, after they were called for suicide intervention.

Just after 2 p.m., officers from the McMinnville Police Department responded to an apartment building to investigate a report of a suicidal male. Police say the man came outside, and confronted the officers.

An investigation by Oregon State Police shows officers fired at least one shot, killing the man. He was declared dead at the scene.

OPB is not reporting the name of the man who was killed until we can verify more information.

Oregon State Police did not reveal whether the man had a weapon. State police have stated they will not be releasing any more details at this time.
