Hot Chip — “Down”

Long-running English electro-pop group Hot Chip is set to release its eighth album, “Freak/Released,” on Aug. 19. “Down” is the record’s buoyant opening single. Lead singer Alexis Taylor credits the perfusion of creativity on the recording to the band’s in-person reunion after two years of pandemic-driven isolation. “By the time we were able to be back together, we were turning on a tap and having a lot of ideas being poured out quite quickly,” Taylor said in a statement.

Bob Vylan — “Health Is Wealth”

“Health Is Wealth’' comes from London two-piece Bob Vylan, who just released the album “Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life.’’ The track masterfully utilizes hype beats and lyrical flow to carry a poignant message about food inequality. “It’s becoming harder and harder for people to eat... Full stop. But it’s even harder to eat healthy and look after one’s mind, body and spirit when the price of food is going up, the cost of living is going up but the wages stay the same!” the band explained.

Pusha T feat. Ye — “Dreamin Of The Past”

“Dreamin Of The Past” comes from Pusha T’s first solo release since 2018. The rapper’s lyrics are seamlessly woven through a sample of Donny Hathaway’s 1972 soul classic “Jealous Guy.” It’s a brilliant piece of production from Kanye West (who also contributes vocally). “I begged for the record. I begged for the beat. I just kept going back to him,” Pusha T said about their collaboration in an interview with Charlamagne tha God.
