Denzel Curry feat. Robert Glasper — “Melt Session #1″

Last month, Denzel Curry returned from a three-year hiatus with a new album called “Melt My Eyez See Your Future.” The opening track, “Melt Session #1,” features pianist/producer extraordinaire Robert Glasper setting the table with a luscious blend of rolling rhythm and haunting harmonies. Curry spills his confessional lyrics all over the song with a relentless flow that’s so effective it doesn’t require a hook to grab your attention.

Angel Olsen — “All The Good Times”

“All The Good Times” is the exquisite opening track from Angel Olsen’s forthcoming album “Big Time.” Produced with help from Jonathan Wilson, the record is due out June 3. The song begins with a moving classic country aesthetic, underpinned by melancholic slide guitar, before crescendoing along with Olsen’s inflamed vocal performance. According to Olsen, the country vibe comes from the fact that the track was originally written for Sturgill Simpson.

Anand Wilder — “Fever Seizure”

Founding member of the band Yeasayer (who separated right before the pandemic), Anand Wilder just dropped his debut solo album “I Don’t Know My Words.” Wilder plays every instrument on every song of the recording. That includes “Fever Seizure,” a sparkling single with darker subject matter that chronicles his 9-month-old daughter actually having a seizure. Sonically, Wilder says the song taps into the music played in his childhood home. “The lockdown brought all that back to me, and the music I began making translates that musical mood of my childhood for my family now,” says Wilder.
