The Oregon Legislature concluded its special redistricting session this week, successfully passing new political maps for the state that could last for 10 years.
Before all was said and done, we saw a Republican boycott, a COVID-19 scare, and plenty of accusations about gerrymandering. But ultimately the GOP decided to come to the table and allow Democrats to pass their proposals.
On this week’s episode of “OPB Politics Now,” OPB politics reporters Dirk VanderHart and Sam Stites discuss whether those new legislative and congressional districts will stand up to potential challenges — and whether the state House can continue to function after the bruising battle it just had.
