A well-known Portland holiday light display has announced the cancellation of its light show this winter.
Peacock Lane in Southeast Portland announced on Facebook Thursday night that it is canceling its annual holiday light event due to the coronavirus pandemic — specifically because of guidelines that limit large gatherings.
“We are saddened that we will not be able to ‘light up the Lane’ this year, but we, as a community, felt it was best to cancel this year’s activities for everyone’s health and safety,” Peacock Lane said in a Facebook post.
The free light show usually takes place from Dec. 15 through the end of the year. The event has been taking place since 1932, according to the Peacock Lane website.
