Mike Schmidt campaigned for Multnomah County district attorney on a platform of criminal justice reform. He is one of a number of similarly progressive DAs around the country who won office.
His predecessor, Rod Underhill, stepped down early so Schmidt could get started on enacting his agenda in the midst of the political uprising for racial justice and police reform. We talk with Schmidt about what his priorities will be in his first few weeks in office, and how he sees the justice system changing over the next four years.
