Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument

The groups argued that decision limited logging on land where it should have been allowed to occur. They cited the 1937 O&C Act, which designated federal forestland in Oregon to be set aside and used for local governments to fund public services through forest production.

A federal appeals court ruled Monday in a case upholding the expansion of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument in Southern Oregon and northwest California.

Documents released under the Freedom of Information Act show a large economic output for recreation on Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument lands. They show little else.  

President Trump says he is significantly shrinking two national monuments in Utah. Two other monuments are on the chopping block as well – including Oregon’s Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.

U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke will be in Oregon to review the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument Saturday. Oregon's attorney general has threatened to sue if Interior shrinks the monument.
