Before her book was published in 2012, Katherine Boo was known primarily for her investigative reporting on people living in poverty in the United States.
She is a staff writer at The New Yorker, and worked as a journalist for the Washington Post, where she won a Pulitzer Prize. She was also awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2002. Boo's book, "Behind the Beautiful Forevers," chronicles life in a slum in Mumbai, India. She won the National Book Award in 2012, and her work has been translated into a play, which is currently running in London.
We listen back to our conversation with Katherine Boo, which took place at Literary Arts on April 24, 2015.
