Race is a hot topic on college campuses around the country right now and Oregon is no exception. Lewis & Clark students began occupying an administration building in late November and Oregon State University President Ed Ray recently announced he will create a new position of "chief diversity officer" to make the Corvallis campus more welcoming to minority students.

At Portland State University, students held a recent event called "PSU Students of Color Speak Out," where students aired grievances and came up with a list of demands. The list includes cultural centers for minority groups on campus as well as student task forces to address the needs of minority students. Students will take these and other ideas to the PSU board of trustees meeting on Thursday.
