As e-cigarettes continue to gain popularity, health officials are seeking to regulate them, especially when it comes to minors. Multnomah County is currently considering several options for restricting sales and use of e-cigarettes, which are completely unregulated in Oregon. The county is seeking public input and also hopes to make progress on statewide regulations, which stalled in the 2014 legislative session.
Among the ideas the county is considering:
- Banning e-cigarette use wherever smoking is currently banned
- Prohibiting sales of e-cigarette products to minors
- Requiring licenses for retailers selling e-cigarettes and other tobacco products
Do you use e-cigarettes? What kinds of regulations would you support? Which regulations do you think would be too restrictive?
