About a century ago, a famous machine politician named Mr. Dooley wrote that “politics ain’t beanbag.”

But in his time, protesters didn't hang off bridges on cables, like they did in Portland this week. And, in more conventional politics, Sen. Ron Wyden has been raising lots of money for his re-election efforts while opposing broad powers for government surveillance.

Across the Columbia River, Gov. Jay Inslee in Washington got some bad news in the form of weak poll numbers, and Silicon Valley-based software giant Oracle got bad news in the form of a court decision.

Lots of political bean-bags are in the air, and our political experts are ready to juggle. OPB political analyst Bill Lunch and Oregonian senior political reporter Jeff Mapes joined Morning Edition producer Casey Negreiff to discuss the week's events. Click "play," above, to listen in.
