Tusitala “Tiny” Toese, a member of the Proud Boys, a far-right group that attracts white supremacists and has engaged in violence was sentenced Thursday to 10 days in jail for a parole violation by a Multnomah County judge.
Toese, 23, was on parole for a harassment conviction for his part in a December 2017 fight during a Portland demonstration.
Toese was later indicted on two assault charges stemming from his role in beating a man, Timothy Ledwith, in June 2018.
Ledwith alleges that he was crossing a street in Northeast Portland when the occupants in a truck started yelling politically based comments at him.
Ledwith said he responded, at which point Toese and fellow Proud Boy Donovan Flippo got out of the truck and physically assaulted him.
After the indictments were handed down in February, Toese fled Portland for his home in American Samoa. He was arrested at Portland International Airport in early October upon his return. Flippo pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault in July and was sentenced to eight days in jail.
Toese was also a member of Patriot Prayer, the Vancouver-based far-right group that attracts white supremacists and has engaged in violence.
Toese was ordered to turn himself in Friday morning and still faces felony assault charges in Multnomah County.
