The Portland metro area saw anywhere from half an inch to 2 inches of snow over Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning with "most of the accumulation being on the west and southern side," according to meteorologist David Bishop with the National Weather Service's Portland office.

"At least for the next few days we're going to see this rain in the daytime hours and potential for snow showers overnight," said Bishop. "That pattern's going to hold until Thursday night going into Friday, at least for up here in the metro area where we'll flip back over to primarily rain."

As for farther down Interstate 5, Eugene received another blanket of snow on top of the more than 8 inches that were already on the ground Monday.

"As of 10 p.m. [Tuesday] night, at the Eugene Airport, they had 5.1 inches of new snow," Bishop said. As of Wednesday morning, Bishop said, the Eugene Airport was still reporting some light falling snow.

"They're probably going to be seeing a little bit more snow, probably until the afternoon hours," he said.

Bishop said, regardless of the amount of snow accumulation, people should take care when traveling.

"We definitely want people to pay attention to what the road conditions are like and increase their travel times by slowing down and giving more distance between cars," he said.

In central Oregon, Bend has received record levels of snowfall in recent days and can expect up to three additional inches Wednesday, with up to two more inches overnight into Thursday.
