Adams is well known in the Portland protest scene where she has helped organize demonstrations that have devolved into violent clashes with antifa counterprotesters. She is affiliated with the violent men's rights group The Proud Boys and Vancouver-based Patriot Prayer.

The protest comes two weeks after a similar rally to reopen the state was held at the Capitol Building in Salem. A few hundred protesters showed up to that rally, many of them armed and advancing fringe conspiracy theories related to the coronavirus.

On the Seaside event’s Facebook page, as of Wednesday morning, 82 people said they’re attending but most of the comments are critical of the event. Many are from locals in Seaside, who said they don’t want the rally in their town and that they are supportive of the stay-at-home order.

Seaside police have said they are prepared for the rally and are planning to close a section of the city’s main thoroughfare to traffic. Meanwhile, the Seaside City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to lift restrictions on beaches, trails and waterways starting May 18.

Rally co-organizer Kareem Jamahl Patton said that while the coast may be reopening, the rally to reopen the coast will still take place.

“We are going to let the governor know how we feel about her performance,” Patton said.
