The Curry County Sheriff's Office has issued a mandatory evacuation for approximately 300 homes near Gardner Ridge Road to Wilson Creek and along the Chetco River.

The homes are under a level 3 evacuation notice while another 1,000 homes are set at a level 2 notice, meaning they should be prepared to leave. Level 3 evacuation is the highest level and means that evacuation should not be delayed by gathering belongings.

The fire, burning in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest near Brookings, Oregon, has burned around 31,000 acres.

The conflagration declaration allows the state fire marshal to dispatch resources and firefighters to combat the fire.
