The burn ban is for all areas of Multnomah County. It’s been issued due to “forecasted high temperatures, limited rainfall and ongoing dry conditions.”

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Temperatures in the Portland metro area are expected to reach nearly 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The ban includes campfires, fire pits, burning yard debris and agricultural burning. Outdoor barbecuing is allowed, but the Defense Board urges residents to be cautious.

The burn ban comes after a 4-alarm brush fire burned in Northeast Portland near Rocky Butte Monday. Residents who had been evacuated near the fire were allowed to return to their homes Tuesday morning.
