The 15-year-old victim and Cornejo-Morales appear to know one another “from prior contacts,” Clackamas County prosecutors stated in court documents released Monday. The 15-year-old was with another person inside the mall when they realized they were being followed by Cornejo-Morales, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Cornejo-Morales fired at the 15 year-old seated on the passenger side, who then returned fire.

The victim, who OPB is not identifying because they are a minor, went to the hospital for treatment, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, at 2:56 p.m. police were called to the mall after reports of a shooting.

Cornejo-Morales was arrested as he was leaving the area, according to prosecutors. A second suspect was not located.

The mall was busy Friday with holiday shoppers. The large police response disrupted traffic and closed the parts of the parking lot for hours.
