In a press release, the Portland Police Bureau said officers responded to reports of a theft in the 9000 block of Northeast Marx Drive. Along that stretch of road, several people live in parked cars and recreational vehicles.

The release says two officers approached a recreational vehicle parked on the street, where there “was an encounter between the officers and an adult male.” One officer then shot and killed the man.

Neither officer was injured.

The bureau has not provided additional details, including the names of the officers, what led up to the shooting, or the name of the man who was killed. Both officers will be put on paid administrative leave, which is standard after an officer is involved in a shooting.
