Woman arrested for allegedly firing gun inside Portland airport, but no injuries reported

A woman has been arrested for allegedly firing a gun inside Portland International Airport on Tuesday night.

Port of Portland police said the woman walked out of a restroom and fired shots in the air. People nearby took cover, but nobody was injured.

It happened just after 11 p.m. near the security checkpoint for concourses D and E.

The woman was quickly taken into custody. Police identified her Wednesday as 47-year-old Laura Patterson, from Kennewick, Washington.

She was arrested and jailed on several charges, including attempted murder, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm in a public building.

Port officials said the security checkpoint was closed until about 3 a.m.
