The Indie folk band took over downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square on Thursday
Indie folk band Fleet Foxes took over Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland on Thursday with a performance that brought their Grammy-nominated albums “Helplessness Blues” and “Shore,” to the forefront. While the concert was part of the band’s national tour, it also closed the 2023 edition of the PDX Live summer concert series.
Fleet Foxes opened the show with “Sun Giant,” a track from their 2008 EP of the same name. The set list included the band’s popular hits like “Mykonos” and “Wadin in Waist-High Water,” which featured collaborator and opening artist Uwade.
Fleet Foxes, which consists of Robin Pecknold, Skyler Skjelset, Casey Wescott, Christian Wargo and Morgan Henderson, is from Seattle. The band was nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album in 2012 for “Helplessness Blues” and then for Best Alternative Music Album in 2022 for “Shore.”
For three weeks, PDX Live brought artists such as Explosions in the Sky, beabadoobee, Patti Smith and many more to “Portland’s Living Room.” This was the event’s second year.
