Between mandates, student well-being, and the delta variant, this school year is shaping up to be another one greatly affected by COVID-19.
In Oregon and Washington, mask and vaccine mandates highlight the statewide focus on keeping students in schools, in-person, this year, with minimal distractions. Some parents and school leaders are pushing back on the mandates, opting for local control and choice in school health and safety decisions. Others say there should be more protocols in place, with schools preparing for the possibility of returning to distance learning.
