Five earthquakes measured at magnitude 4 or greater were reported off of the Oregon Coast early Thursday morning. The largest of the quakes measured 5.4, but the National Weather Service reported there was no tsunami threat as a result of the quake cluster.
The first of the Thursday quakes, with a magnitude of 4.3, hit nearly 200 miles west of Coos Bay at about 3:25 a.m. The next three followed within 35 minutes and all happened within a 25-mile range.
At 6:25 a.m. a 4.1 magnitude quake was reported a bit closer in, at about 150 miles west of Coos Bay. Then less than 10 minutes later a 3.9 hit at 211 miles from the coast.
All six Thursday morning quakes were about 6 miles deep. The cluster followed a 4.4 magnitude quake Wednesday afternoon that hit 187 miles off the coast.
