The Oregon Health Authority said last week the state saw its highest weekly number of new confirmed and presumptive coronavirus cases.
The week of Monday, Oct. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 1, OHA reported 3,542 new known cases of COVID-19. That was an increase of 34% from the week prior.
That is the second consecutive week daily coronavirus case counts set a record high since the start of the pandemic, OHA said.
The state last week saw a test positivity rate of 8.4%. The test positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive for the virus compared to the total number of people tested. The previous week, Oregon had a test positivity rate of 6.5%, according to OHA.
Oregon is on track to see another week of increased coronavirus cases, according to OHA data. On Monday, OHA reported 557 new known cases. Tuesday, the state saw 495 new known cases, and Wednesday OHA reported another 597 new known cases.
The state now has a total of 47,049 known coronavirus cases and has seen 705 coronavirus-related deaths.
The bulk of those new cases came from the Portland metro area Wednesday, with 172 cases reported in Multnomah County, 57 cases in Washington County and 54 cases in Clackamas County.
OHA said Wednesday some of those new Clackamas County cases are from an outbreak at the Fred Meyer Distribution center in the county. So far, 39 cases have been linked to that outbreak which began on Oct. 22.
