Several years ago, a group of Oregon inmates came up with the idea to put together a magazine with poetry, essays and art from incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. The first issue of “All Rise” magazine will be published this year. The magazine’s creators hope that sharing the stories of incarcerated people in their own voices will shift the ideas that Americans have about prisons. We talk with Joshua Wright, one of the co-creators of the magazine.
