It’s been a busy summer for Danny Martinez, emergency manager for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Of course, there’s the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and in July, Martinez had to help residents cope with compromised drinking water. That problem has been fixed, at least temporarily, for the majority of homes in the area but some residents are still relying on bottled water. Now, there are two wildfires burning on the reservation, causing road closures and Level 1 evacuation orders for some residents, including Martinez. We’ll talk with him about how the Warm Springs Reservation is coping.
