- In 1948, young Oregonian news photographer Allan deLay was sent to the scene of the Vanport flood. The water was still rising. His photos were picked up by news organizations around the world. He went on to shoot many celebrities of the 50s and 60s. He's also a lifelong Boy Scout, an accomplished diver, and plays the musical saw.
