With Oregon’s May 17 primary fast approaching, the Hillary Clinton campaign brought in some heavy hitters to help fire up local campaign staff Monday.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist figure skater Michelle Kwan and actress Kathleen Turner joined LGBT for Hillary in Portland for an evening of calling Democratic voters. The pair spoke to the crowd of more than a dozen supporters before taking to the phones.

“We have to make sure we get out to vote,” Kwan said of the phone drive. “That’s why today’s event makes a huge impact because one volunteer can make hundreds of phone calls, knock on doors.”

Jillian Schoene, Clinton's campaign director in Oregon, said Kwan and Turner’s support is about making sure they get the voters to come out in support of Clinton on May 17.

“Every voice that we can lend to her, either us as Oregonians or anyone else in the country, it’s incredibly helpful,” she said.

A poll conducted for OPB earlier this year showed that Clinton lags behind Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in approval ratings among Oregon's Democratic voters. Clinton leads the senator in the national delegate count, however.

“Hillary has said from day one that she is going to campaign and earn every single vote,” Kwan said

Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to make campaign stops in Portland and Bend on Thursday as the campaign ramps up efforts ahead of the primary. Hillary Clinton has yet to make an appearance in Oregon, but Kwan said residents of the Beaver State should get ready for a visit from another big name before the primary.

“Soon we’ll have another special, special guest,” Kwan teased.

“I can’t tell you [who] yet,” she added.
